Commuter of the Month: Mark Jones

Mark is the Director of the Knox County Health Department and was nominated by a coworker as June's Commuter of the Month. Jones moved downtown last year to be closer to work so he could walk, and he walks almost every day regardless of the weather and temperature.

Commuter Challenge
The SmartFix40 Project drew to a close on June 11 and so did our Commuter Challenge. Monthly and quarterly winners have collected $50 and $100 prizes since May 2008, but the biggest prizes are yet to come! Grand prizes of 10 iPod Shuffles, 6 iPod Touch, 6 Nintendo Wii and a $1500 AAA travel package will be awarded June 15 to the lucky commuters who have logged 75 trips using alternative transportation during the Challenge. Be sure to check back to see the winners.
Pass on the Parking
Once you experience the convenience and health benefits of riding your bike, carpooling, taking transit, walking or telecommuting to work, you’ll be ready to abandon that downtown parking pass and save hundreds of dollars a year.
Smart Trips will provide four free parking passes to any participant who cancels their downtown parking pass in favor of a leaner and greener commute—for those days when you absolutely have to drive to work. For more information, email smarttrips@knoxtrans.org
