Emergency Ride Home

Smart Trips Emergency Ride Home program is available to any commuter in the following counties: Knox, Blount, Loudon, Anderson, Jefferson, and Sevier. Commuters must enroll in the Smart Trips program for service eligibility.

You may get an Emergency Ride Home if:

You walked, bicycled, carpooled, vanpooled, or rode the bus for your commute to work that day,

and

You or a family member becomes ill, or

You unexpectedly need to work past your normal quitting time at the request of your supervisor, or

You missed your regular ride due to an unexpected change in your work schedule.

The voucher is only to be used to get home (or to your park-and-ride lot) from work. These vouchers may not be used for your trip to work. You may not make any stops during your ERH trip.

How do I arrange an Emergency Ride Home?

After enrolling Smart Trips, you will receive a packet in the mail with your Emergency Ride Home vouchers and instructions for use.

Voucher Conditions: The Emergency Ride Home vouchers are non-transferable, meaning they are for your use only. You may not give them to a friend, family member, or co-worker. In addition, the vouchers may not be sold.

"Last week my husband had an unexpected meeting requiring him to be at the office past 5 p.m. ...so he used an Emergency Ride Home voucher. It worked great. The cab driver was right on time, very pleasant and pleased to take the voucher....and my husband had a safe and convenient way home. Thank you for this program; it really works well!" — Penny Mize
